Mark Edmonds Abstract

I express myself by painting; this is my point of communication. I do not limit myself to a particular style or medium, that said, abstract painting allows me the freedom I require at the moment. I am fond of industrial paints and reflective varnishes, for reasons which may become clear. I use additional random materials available to me at the time of painting. This can sometimes serve as a personal reminder of where the image was created and why.

I have tried to explore myself through the process of painting, using painting as meditation.  Often, my anger and confusion at the world around me: failing to make sense, is my motivation. Sometimes I find solace in personal quests, to expose the untruths of my surroundings.

Whatever the reason, my emotional wellbeing hinges that which I have created, this a dangerous game, involving a process which is experimental by nature.  Colour is important, vivid in the beginning then, jaded, hidden in darkness. Intentionally constructed composition is not significant, this is often achieved on an unconscious level, observing the existing structure and understanding what is required to be added or subtracted. This is not exact however and may result in a work cycling through many incarnations before it is considered resolved.
